Mastering Ammonia-Free Dye
2024.09.18
Hello everyone, today I’d like to share some characteristics of ammonia-free hair dye.
First, we need to have a clear understanding of "ammonia-free." As the name suggests, ammonia-free dye contains no ammonia, which makes its usage different from traditional dyes that contain ammonia.
As winter approaches, room temperature can significantly affect the performance of ammonia-free dye. If the temperature is low, we recommend wrapping the hair with plastic wrap and applying heat for 10-15 minutes.
Secondly, when covering gray hair, it's important to follow a 1:1 ratio. The shades used for covering gray hair contain heavy pigments, so too much developer can dilute the color and affect the coverage.
Lastly, ensure you allow enough time for the dye to work. Ammonia-free dyes take longer to open the hair cuticle and develop the color, so a processing time of at least 40 minutes is recommended.
By mastering these three points, you'll find using ammonia-free dye much more manageable.
